Lucky dip

Dividing people into groups shouldn’t give you headache…

Choose a set of small objects that can be grouped into a number of themes – your groups. You need one object per participant, with the number of objects for each theme matching the number of participants per group. Use objects relevant to your topic and raid a kid’s toy box. For influencing skills, I use: toy bridge (bridging), paint brush (attraction), book (persuasion), final payment order (assertion). Put all the objects in a bag and ask participants to take an object and find their groups. Begin your session by asking groups about their objects.

Effective, relevant and engaging.
